Continuing our long history of spending our swag budget for good, we planned to partner with the Baltimore Hunger Project (BHP) at The Nonprofit Technology Conference (NTC) in Baltimore later this month. BHP provides 698 non-perishable bundles of food every Friday to combat the weekend “hunger gap” felt by food-insecure children in Baltimore. Each bundle also includes a note of encouragement, which the kids cherish.

We envisioned NTC conference attendees crafting encouraging notes to send home with a food-insecure child in Baltimore; for every note created, Kalamuna would match it with a donation to the Baltimore Hunger Project, and sponsor a child’s weekend food bundle.

Even though NTC has now been canceled, Kalamuna doesn’t want to cancel our support for Baltimore’s kids. With the coronavirus threatening city schools with closures, community support and participation are needed more than ever— so we invite you (yes, you!) to participate virtually with Kalamuna to support Baltimore Hunger Project now through March 26! (The deadline has been extended! The conference is going virtual and our campaign will continue through the duration).

How to get involved:

  1. Create a note of encouragement for a child in Baltimore. Decorate one of these three designs:
    Image
    You're the Best

    Image
    We're Rooting for You
    Image
    You Are Pearfect
("You're the best""We're rooting for you", or "You are pearfect"), or create your own. Keep your message quick and positive. All notes must be non-denominational and appropriate for school-aged children. Also, please do not mention home, food, or belongings.
  2. Post a high-quality image of your note to social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Instagram) anytime between now and March 26. Include the hashtags #kalamuna, #20NTC, and #baltimorehungerproject, and we’ll print and send your note to the Baltimore Hunger Project, so it can be added to one of the bundles, along with our donation to fund a weekend bundle. Help us sponsor up to 100 bundles!

  3. Amplify your impact by spreading the word or donating directly to Baltimore Hunger Project to help them support kids through what lies ahead.
