Kalamuna Gets Behind Fair Trade

I’m proud to announce our work with Fair Trade USA, a non-profit that seeks to cultivate the conscious consumer and eliminate exploitation. They do this through a market-based approach that ensures sustainable livelihoods, safe working conditions, environmental protection, and community resources for farmers and workers around the world. In collaboration with Oakland agency Comrade, we relaunched their site on Drupal 8.

The new site leverages component-driven development to provide a world-class product. Its component-based architecture provides the flexibility editors need to realize their content. Under the hood, the new site follows security and performance best practices. And most importantly, the website enhances Fair Trade USA's brand while driving conversion to their most important campaigns.

Functionally, we built a robust, living styleguide-driven approach on top of our open source framework kalastatic, paragraphs, and kalagraphs to empower the creation of components by front-end developers without the additional overhead of backend development of Paragraph bundles. There's some nice info about kalagraphs in the github readme section if anyone is interested.

Fair Trade USA catalogues a wide variety of products and organizations within Salesforce, one of the most popular CRMs on the market. We leveraged the Drupal 8 Salesforce Suite of modules to stream in the Salesforce content, enabling users to browse and search all the products seamlessly on the website, and reduce the maintenance overhead to keep this key information up to date.

It’s fulfilling to see our work on this project come to fruition. I love seeing how passion for a cause and technical know-how can produce great outcomes.
